Nautical Stationery was developed in Rochester, NY
as a result of a fellow sailor wanting a specific "boat
card" to share with new friends that he & his wife meet during their
summer sailing expeditions. The card would grace not only their contact
information, but their boat name and a nautical chart identifying their
homeport location. The Maerz's approached their friend, Paul Schumacher
who had extensive experience in the print industry, brokering high profile
projects with customers such as Kodak and Xerox. Paul thoroughly understands
the latest print technologies and discovered a new waterproof material
that would make an excellent boat
card for the nautical community.
In 2001, Paul was in search of a designer who could fulfill his friends'
request. He met Lynne Menz, a free-lance web designer on-line and
a month later, "proposed" to Lynne... to design a website
for his new product. Unfortunately, he had not found a product designer,
so she agreed to take on the challenge of both product design & website
design. Several years later, while no romantic match had bonded,
a wonderful business and subsequent new career was formed.
To inspire her nautical creativity, Lynne relocated her home & studio
to the shores of Lake Ontario where she continues to create new nautical
designs and products. She has been actively involved in the annual Oak
Orchard Wooden Boat Festival as the festival coordinator and graphic
designer for Orleans County Tourism. As a result of expanding her designs
to other products, she developed
NauticaLyn Designs, featuring merchandise such as glass cutting boards, boat christening plaques, coozies, mouse pads, coasters, puzzles, decorative pillows and apparel,
all printed with nautical charts and icons. View her catalog at www.lynnemenz.com.
Lynne attributes much of the success of Nautical Stationery to her "Nautical
Brides" who have sought out her designs throughout the US for their
wedding stationery.
Though distance has no baring, Lynne works closely with the engaged
couples to create beautiful stationery products, including wedding invitation
packages, save-the-date cards, menu and placecards. The responses that
she has received from the brides, grooms and their mothers have been
especially motivating (see testimonials below).
Please call or email Lynne (Designs) or
Paul (General Info).
They will be happy to work with you!
