  1. What is Nautical Stationery?

    Nautical Stationery is a distinguished line of stationery products developed for people who have a passion for everything nautical. Whether you have a career in the nautical industry, own a water vessel or simply live near the shore, we can design your custom stationery products featuring authentic NOAA charts of your homeport. Nautical Stationery offers Captain's Cards, memo pads, greeting cards, postcards, holiday cards and invitation packages for weddings and special ocassions.     Nautical Stationery has received permission from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association to use their charts for design & printing purposes. Although we may not have every NOAA chart for inland waterways, we will do our best to accommodate your needs. We also will print your logo or graphic on your stationery when you provide it to us in a high resolution digital format.

  2. What is NauticaLyn Designs?

    NauticaLyn Designs is a by-product of Nautical Stationery. When our creative director decided to expand the product line beyond stationery, we decided the reference to "stationery" was not all that appropriate. Therefore, NauticaLyn Designs was born! NauticaLyn Designs products include coffee mugs, mouse pads, t-shirts (long & short sleeve), coasters, drink coozies and the beautiful satin neck pillows.   3. What is a Captain's Card?

    A Nautical Stationery Captain's Card (AKA Boat Card) is similar to a business or Social card except we offer the option to print it on a durable and waterproof synthetic material. Furthermore, the custom card design features your choice of NOAA chart backgrounds printed on a standard 3 1/2" x 2" format with a title and your personalized information. The bold title can be the name of your boat, business, beach house or family. The contact information can include your name, address, telephone numbers, club memberships, GPS coordinates, hailing port, web site, e-mail address and even your dog's name! (Please don't forget to include your wife's name!) Icons can be added to represent, among others, your water-vessel-of-choice, yacht club burgee or membership logo. If your contact information list is more than a fathom long, we offer double-sided printing.

    These uniquely designed cards are sure to leave a lasting impression on whoever you share them with.

  4. What if I'm not a captain and the only boat I own is a gravy boat? Am I eligible to have a Captain's Card?

    You don't need to be a captain or own a boat to have a Captain's Card. You merely need friends, family or colleagues that you want to share your contact information with. Your memorable card will be easy to locate in a pile of business cards on someone's desk.

  5. Can you design my card with my homeport's chart?

    Of course that depends where your homeport is! If you are located on one of the Great Lakes, Lake Champlain or any US Coastal region, then yes, we most likely have the NOAA chart available to design your stationery or card. Many of our designs are based on large bodies of water and we can add a star to identify your home port. Visit our Design Gallery to view our chart designs.

    Please let us know what boundaries you want to include on your stationery or card. Custom fees may apply for specific ports, bays or harbors.

  6. I don't see the font on your list that matches my boat's stern. Can we match it?

    Most of the time, yes. We have several fonts available to us, and it's difficult to list them all. (Visit the Design Gallery for our suggested fonts.) We ask that you fax or e-mail us a photo of it or locate it's likeness on the Internet. There are several sites on the Internet that create graphics for your vessel, such as Boatus.com. Please point us in the right direction to save us time & you money!

  7. Can you include my [specify graphic] on my stationery?
    (i.e. yacht club burgee, membership logo, cruise route, boat, lighthouse, fishing reel, dog, etc.)

    Yes, we can include the image but we first must obtain a digital copy and sometimes permission to print it. Many associations will send a digital image to the Nautical Stationery design team upon request and usually on behalf of a "member in good standing". We ask the client to either provide a digital image or lead us in the direction to easily obtain it. If we cannot obtain a reasonable graphic for printing purposes, we may have to recreate it and charge a design fee.

    If you want to include the route of your event's cruise, we can add a dashed line similar to the shipping line graphics. If you prefer an image of your boat, we will need a digital copy of it in order to create it or select from one of several icons we offer. If you want a silhouette of your dogs, let us know...we've done that before too! Depending on the time involved in adding the image to your card/stationery and the size of your order, custom fees may apply.

  8. I personally think the charts are too busy looking, but I love the color scheme. Is there a more simple design that you can provide?

    Our designs are based on the graphics illustrated on NOAA charts. Yes, some are busier than others and may compete with your contact information. To get around that, we change the opacity of the chart to create a faint watermark design and attempt to position the copy in clear spaces. We will work with you to get the design right.

  9. I'm interested in an application featuring your nautical chart designs that you don't have listed. Can you design and produce it?

    Nautical Stationery is constantly adding new products for our customers. Please contact us with your inquiry and we will determine if we can fulfill your request. Please visit our Design Gallery to view our many options.

  10. What if I'm not satisfied with the design?

    Nautical Stationery prides itself in customer satisfaction. And we have the letters to prove it! Our Creative Director will work with you until you are completely satisfied with your design and order.

  11. What is Nautical Stationery's Privacy Policy?

    We understand that many of our clients are private individuals. Nautical Stationery has great respect for your privacy and will not share your personal information with anyone without your written (or electronic) permission. This information will only be used by Nautical Stationery staff to fulfill your order.

  12. I love Nautical Stationery designs! How do I place an order?

    That's easy! Simply...

    • Determine what product(s) you would like us to design for you from our Product Description page or Design Gallery.

    • Select the Order Form for that particular item at the bottom of each page and you will be redirected to its design/order form.

    • Complete the product's design form, including all pertinent information and click on the Submit button. The more specific & complete the information you provide, the more accurate we can be with your proof & quote.

    • You will then be directed to our secured Payment Page. We accept checks mailed to us or credit cards. If you prefer to pay with credit, simply complete the Payment page and submit your information. We will process the payment the day we mail your order.

    • Once submitted, a Nautical Stationery Representative will respond to your request within 24-48 hours via e-mail with a preliminary proof, approval form, quote and payment information.

    • Upon receiving your approval and payment, we will print your order.

  13. What payment methods do you accept?

  15. What is your Payment Plan?

    When you provide payment, we ship your order. For custom orders, we require your credit card information after you receive your samples. We will not process payment until the order is ready to ship. If you cancel your order after final approval has been received, we will charge your account $75 for design fees.

  16. Why doesn't your website include a shopping cart where I can place an order & pay on-line simultaneously?

    Shopping carts are wonderful tools for ordering stock items. However, since Nautical Stationery specializes in custom designs, we prefer a more personal and flexible approach to conduct our business.

  17. When can I expect to receive my order?

    After we receive your approval and payment, we begin processing the order. You can expect to receive your order within 5-10 days from that time. If, however, you require a faster turnaround time, you can opt to have them shipped overnight and receive your order sooner.

    By all means, please indicate on the design form if you need your order by a certain date. Additional fees may be required for rush orders (less than 1 week.)

  18. I want to purchase Nautical Stationery as a gift, but not sure of the recipient's personal information. What do you recommend?

    Complete the Design/Order form for the product that you would like to give as a gift and check the Gift Certificate box. Our design team can design & print samples based on your "best guess" and send them to either you or the recipient along with a Gift Certificate/Order Form. That way, the recipient can insure the contact information is to his/her specification. Payment is required prior to sending the samples and certificate.

  19. Do you offer discounts?

    Group discounts
    for 5 or more will receive a 10% discount and custom fees will be waived. This applies to yacht clubs, family members, businesses and sailing crews to name a few. Requirements to receive the multiple order discount are:

    • Must be for the same product (i.e. captain's cards, greeting cards)

    • Must have same background graphics

    • Must have same icons

    • Minimum of 5 orders to be placed initially. After the initial order, additional orders will receive the discount as well.


    Repeat Customers will receive 10% off of reprints of the product from a previous order. Minor copy changes will be edited at no additional costs.
